Learning All About Bourgogne

Bourgogne

To say it has been a lot going on is an understatement. If you don’t follow me on social media, you might not know I started a new endeavor, Black Wine Professionals and last week sat for my WSET Level 3 exam. Yeah, I lot. But, with everything going on the one thing I do love is learning.

Over the past week, I have been deep into the Wines of Bourgogne. There is a running joke in the wine industry that all wine roads lead to Bourgogne. It is a region where you can easily go down a rabbit hole of tasting and learning. This is an area where not alone the village matter, but the actual vineyard sites. Although we touched on Bourgogne in WSET L3, nothing beats looking over maps and tasting wines from particular regions. It takes learning and putting it at the forefront of the mind and palate. Now, before you ask, I have not had wines from all these regions and it makes me want to learn what makes these wines so amazing and why so many people geek out about the region.

This is why I love wine. You will never know everything. It’s always changing and if you are curious, it allows your curiosity to flourish. I know wine can be intimidating, but the key is to keep going back to taste, read, and most importantly. ENJOY! That’s what wine is really about.
